I lead the build, maintenance, and operation of Emerada CashManager, a cash-management service for businesses. For the shinkin-bank portal, I lead the infrastructure design, build, and operation of the cash-management function. I also plan, introduce, maintain, and operate internal networks, PCs, and SaaS, and I set the information-security plan and policy, run them, and explain them to employees.

When I joined, no engineers remained and there was no handover. I documented the infrastructure, including diagrams and sequence charts, in more than 200 documents, and grew the team from one person to three. I reduced operating work by automating it and simplifying procedures, and I run mob programming and study sessions so members can handle problems themselves. Looking at infrastructure constraints and functional requirements together has cut down sudden requests and made the work plannable.

System Engineer, System Development Department, April 2019 – May 2021

I led development and operation of an inbound restaurant-information site. On an automaker's telemetry platform I developed the system, built and ran CI/CD, and acted as the systems integrator's project manager toward the client. I supported less experienced members for a year, and brought post-launch operations back to a point where the integrator could lead them.

Acting Manager, Tokyo Office, August 2012 – September 2018

I managed and supported our developers across several locations. Under a systems integrator, I led a team that built cloud environments and systems for financial-engineering research. AWS was still rarely used in finance, and we finished a short application project on time. I was then asked to prepare, with the client's staff, an AWS environment for research on news text and stock prices. Each week I held a study session on concepts, the services in use, cost, and the AWS CLI, until the client's employees as well as our members could answer cloud requests.

On another assignment I led the team that adapted a highway information service for mobile. The schedule was short, and IE6 support was added one week before release. We still shipped on the date.

Systena Corporation

Developer and team leader, April 1992 – July 2011

I worked for four years, including later changes, on a trust bank's pension-investment support system. In a systems-integration project for a bank merger, the application I was responsible for was more than 150 person-months. In a non-life insurer's merger, the application I was responsible for was more than 100 person-months. I also developed under manufacturer and systems-integrator methods, including SDEM.

Of the two phases in the bank integration, one was recognized by the manufacturer: we built a higher-quality system with less effort than planned. I took questions from the client's staff and advised them on middleware and technical problems. After the trust-bank work ended I was asked back by name, and a manufacturer's systems engineer later asked me to support Linux middleware.
